Additional description of manifold 6-60

A part called manifold is located in the propulsion of internal combustion vehicles, which is divided into two types of inlet or air and outlet or smoke and have different functions; The inlet manifold is responsible for directing the mixture of air and fuel into the combustion chamber, while the outlet manifold is responsible for directing and discharging the combustion gases out of the engine. Although the manifold’s seemingly simple role in the car, this task is of great importance and sensitivity in the correct operation of the propulsion

If we compare the car to the body, the air manifold is like its lungs. It consists of a series of ducts that inlet air into the cylinders to combine a certain amount of air with a certain amount of fuel. Most internal combustion engines operate in a four-stage process, and during the first stage (called the suction stage) air is drawn from the manifold inlet by a valve into the cylinder. These inlet valves are then closed for the other three stages (compression, combustion and discharge) and reopened when the cycle is restarted. The inlet manifold is responsible for ensuring that sufficient air enters when the valve is opened and, in addition, transmits equal amount of air to all cylinders

In the past, the air manifold in carburetor cars was made of cast iron or aluminum alloy and had a different design depending on the technical specifications of the engine used. But in today’s cars with injector fuel system, the manifold has an integrated design and the  motor stepper is at the beginning

The exhaust manifold is also the first part of the car exhaust system to be connected to the engine block. This component transfers the exhaust gases from the combustion of all cylinders to the car’s exhaust catalytic converter. Leakage in the exhaust manifold or failure of the sealing gasket will cause smoke to escape from its path and damage the health of the car. In addition, this causes incorrect information to be sent to the car’s oxygen sensor. In output manifold for each output in the engine cylinder head, there is an outlet that eventually all enter a channel. A special gascket is also used to prevent any leakage
